Occupational Rehabilitation
The purpose of Moore Clinic's Occupational Rehabilitation program is to identify our clients’ capacity to return to work and to equip each client with the necessary education and skills-retraining required for them to return to their job in a productive, competitive, and safe capacity. Our Occupational Rehabilitation program is specially designed to get employees back to work quickly with tailored programs for:

• Upper extremity
• Lower extremity
• Spine
• General conditioning

The primary services offered in our Occupational Rehabilitation program are Functional Capacity Evaluations (FCE’s) and Work Reconditioning.

Functional Capacity Evaluation
A FCE is an intensive short-term evaluation that focuses on major physical tolerance abilities related to musculoskeletal strength, endurance, speed and flexibility. This evaluation is a systemized approach using evaluation instruments whose reliability and validity have been determined through peer-reviewed research. A FCE includes:

• Musculoskeletal screening
• Functional strength testing
• Cardiovascular testing
• Work capacity testing
• Handling and Dexterity testing

Moore Clinic's Occupational Rehabilitation staff (comprised of three occupational therapists) uses one of the most well respected Functional Capacity Evaluation systems in the world; the Matheson System.  This system uses a protocol based upon peer-reviewed research (from a wide range of industry and court tested resources) that follows the Practice Hierarchy of safety, reliability, validity, practicality and utility.  The Moore Clinic staff has completed the certification process to become one of only a few practices in the state of South Carolina with the Certified Work Capacity Evaluator (CWCE) designation.

Work Reconditioning
The Work Reconditioning Program at The Moore Orthopaedic Clinic is a four-hour systematic program of progressive activities that recondition the person’s musculoskeletal, cardiovascular, respiratory, and psychomotor systems to prepare for return to work. This program includes job simulation (as well as the use of standardized equipment) to improve strength, endurance, and body mechanics to facilitate a gradual, safe and successful return to work. The program includes:

• Flexibility exercises
• Job simulation
• Body mechanics
• Ergonomics
• Strength training
• Endurance
• Cardiovascular conditioning
