Total Joint Replacement

Total joint replacement is one of the great orthopaedic surgical advances and Moore Clinic is very pleased to have had our founder, Dr. Austin T. Moore, to be the cutting edge physician that performed the very first total joint reconstruction in 1940 and developed a hip prosthetic that was used around the world.  A lot has changed in medicine since 1928 (the year that Dr. Moore founded the Moore Clinic), but Moore Clinic has maintained our commitment to staying cutting edge in the world of total joint replacements.  Surgeries of this type often involve conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, degenerative arthritis or joint damage. The orthopaedic surgeon observes and manages the disorder to determine the most beneficial time and type of surgical intervention. Just as no two patients are alike, no two joint replacements are exactly the same. That's why our care is precisely focused on the unique medical and lifestyle needs of each patient.

In the total joint replacement procedure, an orthopaedic surgeon replaces an arthritic or damaged joint with an artificial joint called a prosthesis. While the hip and knee are by far the most commonly replaced joints, our physicians also have in-depth experience with the shoulder, elbow, hand, ankle and other joints.

Led by
Dr. Kim Chillag (hip and knee), Dr. Bradley Presnal (hip and knee), and Dr. Earl McFadden (shoulder), the surgeons at Moore Clinic are specially trained, experienced and skilled in total joint replacement.  Moore Clinic physicians are currently serving as the physician champions for Palmetto Richland's Total Joint Center and Medical Directors for Providence Hospital's Orthopaedic & NeuroSpine Institute.  On average, joint replacement surgery patients can expect to be hospitalized for three to four days following their surgery. A highly qualified team of nurses and therapists work with you, your surgeon and the total joint "team" to keep you comfortable and progressing toward your goals.

The results of our comprehensive approach to joint care remain overwhelmingly positive.
